1. About SimHALO and this policy

SimHALO is a voice-driven medical simulation training application for healthcare professionals. It is published by Bombyx Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what information the SimHALO mobile app collects, how we use it, and your choices.

SimHALO is an educational and training tool. All clinical scenarios, patients and cases within the app are entirely fictional. SimHALO is not a medical device, is not intended for the diagnosis or treatment of real patients, and does not collect or process real patient health information.

2. Who SimHALO is for

SimHALO is intended for healthcare professionals and trainees aged 18 or over. It is not directed at children.

3. Information we collect

• Account information — when you create an account: your email address, display name, and an encrypted password.
• Profile and preferences — your practice goals, app settings (such as speech-recognition timing), and onboarding/disclaimer status.
• Simulation data — your activity within simulations: scores, ratings, the actions you take, timings, debrief feedback, streaks and achievements.
• Voice input and transcripts — during a simulation the app records your voice through the device microphone so it can be converted to text and drive the simulation (see section 5).
• Technical and usage data — basic information needed to operate the app, such as app version, device type and in-app interactions.

We do not collect payment information, we do not collect your location, and we do not use advertising identifiers or track you across other apps or websites.

4. How we use your information

• To provide the simulation experience and your personalised debriefs, scores, streaks and achievements.
• To maintain your account and preferences.
• To improve the app's content, accuracy and reliability.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Voice data

SimHALO is voice-driven. During a simulation:

• Your speech is captured by the device microphone and sent to our speech-to-text provider to be transcribed in near real time.
• The resulting text is used to run the simulation, including being sent to our AI provider, which generates the simulated team's responses and your debrief.
• The simulated characters' speech is generated as audio by a text-to-speech provider.

Voice audio is processed only to produce the transcript and is not retained by us as audio. The text transcript of your simulation is stored as part of your simulation record so your debrief and progress can be shown. If you prefer not to use voice input, you can use the app's Hands-On (text) mode.

6. Service providers

We use the following providers to operate SimHALO; they process data on our behalf:

• Supabase — application database, authentication and storage, hosted in Sydney, Australia.
• Deepgram — speech-to-text transcription (United States).
• DeepInfra — text-to-speech audio generation (United States).
• Anthropic — AI generation of simulated dialogue and debriefs (United States).
• Apple — app distribution and, during the beta, TestFlight.

7. International transfer

Your account and simulation data are primarily stored in Australia. Some processing — voice transcription and AI generation — takes place in the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on the contractual protections offered by those providers.

8. Data retention

We keep your account and simulation data while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see section 10).

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.

10. Your rights and choices

You can access and update your profile within the app. You may request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account by contacting us at luke@bombyxhq.com.

11. Beta testing

During the beta period SimHALO is distributed through Apple TestFlight. Apple collects certain information as part of TestFlight; see Apple's privacy policy. Beta builds may be less stable, and feedback you submit may be used to improve the app.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "last updated" date shows the latest version. Material changes will be notified in-app.
